statues
most of the media in this blog post had been compressed and everything has been described (both in the main and the alt text) to make it more accessible to everybody. so, if while the page loads you see some long text for a second before the images fully load, or notice the bad quality of some pictures: that's okay. thank you <3
take a look at these wooden Pallas's cats (manuls):
or at this wooden monkey:
now, they do look wacky, because they kind of are. nonetheless, I think the zoo is much, much better with these rather than without. these wooden statues create their own charm, making the zoo itself more... friendly, I guess?
there were some green ones too! ape:
and even some penguins (this one is not mine, but owned by alamy):
these are actually just normal statues covered in artificial grass and not green bushes of any form. if you look closely enough (or even visit the zoo yourself), you can see that. that's why I call them green statues.
while they are cool, they are not creating any kind of charm really. statues like these are far more common and... lack life, if you can say that about non-living things?..
I think wooden statues are just better. over their appearance, their charm, even most likely their cost. overall better. but that's just my opinion.
